Programs & Services
1. CBED Organizational Assessment: A formal evaluation of the CBED organization’s (CBEDO’s) strengths and weaknesses used to formulate a technical assistance workplan.
2. Economic Venture Technical Assistance & Training: This includes technical assistance and training on venture development skills such as venture analysis and selection, sectoral analyses of local industries, economic research and analysis, feasibility analysis, business planning, venture funding and financing, marketing, and regulatory compliance. Methods include one-on-one consulting support and workshops.
3. CBED Organizational Technical Assistance & Training: This includes technical assistance and training to develop management capacity that covers strategic planning, governance, administration and program management, financial management. Methods include one-on-one consulting support and workshops.
4. Coaching & Peer Coaching Support: One-on-one and peer coaching support includes feedback in a structured action learning process. Coaching provides a more personalized approach to addressing capacity development needs that complements training and workshops through the reinforcement of learned concepts and the introduction of just-in-time information and technical support.
5. Workshops & Conferences: Workshops and conferences are organized throughout the year. They focus on basic fundamentals, strategic topical issues, and leading edge information and approaches that help CBED practitioners build their knowledge, skills, and other capacities to effectively manage their organizations, economic ventures, and community-based process.
6. Resource & Referrals: HACBED develops and maintains relationships with a statewide and national network of technical assistance and funding resources to help provide support to CBED practitioners.
7. Advocacy: Activities and partnerships are developed to increase greater public and private sector recognition and support, funding and financing, and supportive public policy changes to maximize the effectiveness of CBED initiatives.
8. Comprehensive Technical Support: Services – organizational assessment, economic venture technical assistance, organizational technical assistance, peer coaching, workshops, resource and referrals, and advocacy – are also delivered in a “packaged” format through The Community Connection, a structured nine month training and technical support program for two member teams from CBED organizations.
9. Asset Building Products and Services: The above support services are also provided to Asset Building practitioners (i.e., Individual Development Accounts) in a more specialized approach.
10. Economic Development Planning, Research, & Analysis: These services include designing and facilitating community specific and regional economic development planning, industry clusters and sectoral analyses, economic impact analysis, workforce development and economic development linkage analysis.
